What does “home” mean to you?

Home is a place to feel safe and comfortable. It’s a place where my son can play, laugh, learn, and be loved. Home is where you grow old. Where you can truly be yourself.

Who or what inspires you?

My father is a big inspiration to me. He has always worked hard and has achieved all his goals in life. He has a beautiful home and great job and so many hobbies. He inspires me to be the best version of myself. He inspires me to learn and grow as a parent. He encourages me to never give up on my dreams. He also pushes me through hard times but knows its ok to fail. Just keep trying.

What was your life like before Bridge of Hope Harrisburg Area?

I am working two jobs and going to school for my BA in Computer Science with a concentration in Software Engineering. I have a 3-year-old son. Both of my parents are terminally ill and taking care of them has been very difficult. My mom is now in hospice and does not have much time left. I was struggling with work, school, daycare, and taking care of my mom, and I missed a lot of work. I fell behind on bills and rent. I was on the verge of losing my home. Being a single parent and trying your best to tackle every situation alone is difficult and it has taken its toll on me emotionally.

Where do you want to see yourself and your family in the next one to two years?

I would like to be in a position at work that is steady and growing. While going to school, I plan on advancing my career, so I have the experience I need when graduating. After graduating, I want to work as a software engineer at the job I currently have.

My son will be attending kindergarten. My family is a huge support right now. I am going through a lot with both of my parents being sick. My goal is to strengthen my relationships with my family so my son will have all the support and love he needs as he grows.

My goal is to own my home. I want my son to be able to grow up in a home where he will make so many beautiful memories. I don’t want him to have to move from home to home. My goal is to have a budget set for all my finances. I would also like to finally have money in my savings and a college fund set up for my son. In the next year, I would like to have a healthy mindset. I want to laugh and love and go on adventures with my son. I’d like to enjoy all the activities we do together.
