In 2007 a group of women joined together to address the growing need for homelessness services for single women and children in the Harrisburg area. They joined the Bridge of Hope network officially making Bridge of Hope Harrisburg Area a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. By 2009, a Director was hired and shortly after the first family was served.
A steady increase of families served and financial support generated over the years has led Bridge of Hope Harrisburg Area to our current operations in Dauphin, Cumberland and York Counties with one full-time Executive Director and three part-time staff members. We have been serving homeless single mothers with children for over 10 years and now in three counties!
When a single mother is homeless, every aspect of life becomes complicated. How will she feed her family? Where will they sleep each night? Will they be safe? If she finds a job, how will she get there? Where will the children go to daycare or school? How will they all get ready for the day?
The first step toward ending and preventing homelessness for homeless single mothers and their children is to “House A Family.” When the family has the security and stability of a home, they have the foundation needed to rebuild their lives. Support a family today by giving a monthly or one-time gift.
