She Already Is A Leader!

September 20, 2022

LCBC West Shore made it possible for a Bridge of Hope Harrisburg Area donor, who is also a single mother, to attend the 2022 Global Leadership Summit (GLS) with me this past August. Samantha decided years ago she wanted to support the Bridge of Hope Harrisburg Area program instead of applying for it, even though she would have qualified. A single mother of two teens and often struggling to make it on her own, Samantha is a monthly donor, attends our Galas and spreads the word of what we do for single mothers like her. Because of LCBC West Shore’s support, I was able to invite her to join me at the GLS at no cost to our organization or Samantha herself. She was so excited and said she’d never had this type of opportunity, didn’t see herself as a leader, and kept wondering why Bridge of Hope Harrisburg Area continued to provide her with these opportunities. She asked, “Why me?”

I met Samantha years ago and loved her enthusiasm for life despite her own past traumas and struggles. She has not lived an easy life. We’ve become good friends and she’s been supporting Bridge of Hope Harrisburg Area financially for years. Samantha left the GLS and our time together with a new understanding of what a leader is. I assured her that she is a leader in the way she lives to serve others, leads her children every day, and through her completely selfless outlook on life. We need more leaders like Samantha! She left those two days believing she is a leader and that she is making a difference in her family, her work, and her service to other single mothers through Bridge of Hope Hope Harrisburg Area. Samantha is one strong woman! She is one of few female FedEx truck drivers. I walked with her through her training and testing, and then celebrated with her when she got her CDL license and landed a much-needed job with FexEx driving huge trucks in the Harrisburg/York area. Samantha’s amazing and LCBC and GLS helped her see that she already is a leader! Thank you, LCBC!
